OGBORU CONSIDERS PLANS TO QUIT 2019 GUBERNATORIAL RACE AS APC NWC GAVE THE NOD TO DELTA NORTH CANDIDACY
Barely few weeks to the 2019 Gubernatorial primary of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Delta state, one of her Aspirant, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru has perfected plans to drop his 2019 governorship ambition in what our source described as "forces beyond his control" as there are strong indications that the National Working Committee of the party and the Presidency have given the nod to Delta North candidacy as the only flood spot to capture the Oil rich State as one of her ruling State come 2019.
Our source also disclosed that Chief Ogboru has anointed some of his boys and relatives to contest for Delta State House of Assembly seats so as to have a very strong grip to the soon to emerge Progressive Administration in the Coastal State of the Niger Delta in his preparation for 2023 ambition.
According to one of the source who is a cabinet member of the Delta State Governorship serial Contender, who spoke with us on condition of anonymity, he said "the 2019 Governorship race is not favourable to the aspiration of Our Leader, Chief Great Ogboru, he has pushed different political strategies to garner support of the Party Leadership at the National and the presidency, but they are more interested in Delta North Candidacy." The source also disclosed that The "Peoples General" as Ogboru is fondly called by his followers, has opted for plan B, hence the likes of Prince Efe Duku, Tony Omolu, Enajite Rex Ogboru (Chief Ogboru's nephew vying for Ethiope East constituency seat), Jekins Wisike who is slogging it out with Agege's Personal Assistant, Moses Anaughe and others have been given matching order to declare for the Delta State House of Assembly seats in their respective State Constituencies.
There has been a very high political tension within the Ogboru camp since this development as some of his followers has seen this move as a selfish one and they are well positioned to resist it. It should be recalled that there is a serious cold war between Prince Efe Duku and one John Ighoruemu Oyibokwifi both of whom are gunning for the Ughelli South State Constituency seat in the Delta State House of Assembly. A reliable Source within the factional APC of Ogboru/Omo-Agege camp in Ughelli South informed our Reporter that both State Leader of the faction have endorsed the Senior Legislative Aide to the Delta Central Senator, Prince Efe Duku and have also ordered their factional Chairman in the Constituency to work and ensure their anointed godson to emerge as the Party Flag bearer come 2019. This decision have also made some members of the camp to expressed their disappointment on this "selfish and undemocratic" move.
There is also widespread believe that the 2015 Labour Party Governorship Candidate decision to project his very loyal Boys and Relatives is unavoidable as many politicians within the State has rode on his popularity to secure various Legislative positions in the past and later abandoned his camp which has greatly affected his election bids in the past.
However, the decision by the National powers of the party (APC) to queue behind the Candidacy of Delta North and the brewing crisis in the Ogboru/Omo-Agege camp occasioned by the decision of Chief Ogboru to impose his family members and close allies as Candidates of the Party for the various House of Assembly seats across the State, have forced a lot of key supporters of Agege and Ogboru to begin negotiation with the mainstream of the party for alignment in order to safeguard their political relevancies.
A cogent source also disclosed that all efforts by Senator Omo-agege to salvage the situation proved abortive as everybody want to be in a camp that may likely produce the party's Governorship Candidate.
With this development, the major Contender for the Delta State All Progressives Congress, APC Governorship ticket is now between Prof Pat Utomi, Hon Victor Ochie and Dr Cairo Ojougbo.
